SEED OF THE WEEK: Royal Burgundy Bush Bean Posted May 30, 2016 by Edee Klee

Royal BurgundyThis purple podded variety is a very productive and long bearing bush snap type bean.  If you keep the beans picked the plants will produce for weeks.  Leave some beans from your healthy plants and allow to go to seed.

At planting time this bean can tolerate cooler soil than other beans.

They  have a delicious flavor when eaten fresh or frozen.  The fun part with this bean is that they turn bright green when cooked.  This color change can be used to indicate the perfect blanching time when preparing to freeze.  They have a brownish seed.

This beautiful heirloom bean is available through our FPL Seed Library.
