It’s mid-July and it’s harvesting time for many crops.

It is very important to harvest regularly: by doing so the plant will keep on flowering and producing, sending out new leaves, or in the case of broccoli, sending out new shoots.

In this early part of the summer, if you leave crops un-harvested, this signals the plant that the end of the season is near, and it is time to produce seed for next season.
