SEED OF THE WEEK: Kohlrabi Posted August 5, 2016 by Edee Klee

kohlrabiKohlrabi is an unusual looking cold weather crop like other Brassica family plants – it has a crisp texture with a mild Brassica flavour hints of cabbage.

It can be used like turnip, in a salad or shredded  for coleslaw.  And like its Brassica cousins, kohlrabi is an excellent source of phosphorus and potassium as well as dietary fibre, and (somewhat surprisingly) vitamin C.

You can start seeds now (early-mid August) for harvest late Fall.
